MISSION
Tech Summit Black is a free virtual conference for Black youth to learn more about tech opportunities. Black tech workers make up only 9.3% of the Canadian tech industry so we’ve made it our goal to begin closing the misrepresentation gap through the use of our powerful network of industry leaders.
Technology is the fastest growing industry in North America, developing career paths in tech that are high paying and in demand. Whether you are a high school student, a recent university grad, or a professional looking to adapt to the new digital landscape, it is never too late to transition to a career in tech. With the help of our panelists, we want to provide you with the inspiration, network, and knowledge to begin building your own path for a future in tech.
PANELS + SESSIONS
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Explore and learn the difference between working in tech, and owning something in tech. You can have a successful career working in tech as an employee, but true generational wealth comes from owning the company yourself. In this panel, Athlete Entrepreneurs will share with us their experiences; being employees within professional sports, and how that compares to the benefits of owning their own businesses.
LEADERSHIP
The communities that are suffering the most are the least represented at the top. Your voice matters and it’s time we make a seat for ourselves in the boardroom! Join us and our panel speakers to discuss the ways that they’ve made a difference in their world and how they’re helping others do the same.
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Currently, the technology sector doesn’t represent the talent pool of our society. The Black community is underrepresented and in fact, according to Intel and Dalberg, the tech industry could generate an additional $300 USD to $370 USD billion each year if the visual diversity of tech companies’ workforces reflected that of the talent pool. Join us for this panel to explore the role that everyone plays in bridging the gap.
